It might not be a bad idea to pick up a casting stat and learn the weapon buff spells. The damage bonus is static, so weapons that swing faster benefit more. Buffs are good for dex weapons. You get the Int buffs (Magic Weapon, Great MW, etc.) much earlier than you get the Faith ones, but the Faith buffs are a little better.
